Sadly the Associated Press has been reporting that trace amounts of a wide range of pharmaceutical drugs — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — are turning up in drinking water supplies in the U.S.  Pharmaceuticals have now been found in the drinking water of at least 51 million Americans.  And it is believed that this problem is worldwide.

Most cities and water providers still do not test for drugs in public water supplies.   Unfortunately, wherever researchers look, they will find pharma-tainted water.

Not only are drug companies legally dumping drugs into drinking water (hundreds of millions of tons in just the last few years) - consumers are also considered major contributors to the problem. What we take into our bodies and don’t absorb is then excreted. And consumers often flush unused drugs down their toilets. Additonally, AP found that an estimated 250 million pounds of pharmaceuticals are thrown out each year by hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

The health ramifications of this problem are profound…  And proivide another great argument for homeopathy - the greenest system of medicine ever devised.
